More than two decades after its original release, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” continues to hit new heights. The 1994 carol rises 22-18 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Jan. 2, 2016), scoring its best rank ever on the chart. The song had previously peaked at No. 21 peak on the Hot 100 dated Jan. 5, 2013.
“Christmas” also remains atop the Holiday 100 chart. It leads Holiday Airplay (38 million in all-format audience, up 22 percent, according to Nielsen Music) and Holiday Streaming Songs (8.3 million U.S. streams, up 10 percent), while slipping 1-2 on Holiday Digital Songs despite a 2 percent lift to 31,000 downloads sold in the week ending Dec. 17.
All charts, including the Hot 100, will refresh tomorrow (Dec. 22) on Billboard.com.
